Devin Carter, Kings Hand Pacers 10th straight loss

Devin Carter scored 22 of his career-high 24 points in the fourth quarter as the Sacramento Kings beat Indiana 114-109 on Tuesday, snapping the visiting Pacers to their 10th straight loss.

Sacramento overcame a 20-point third-quarter deficit behind Carter, who hit three 3-pointers and had 15 points on a 17-5 run, to outscore the Kings 109-103 with 1:46 left.

Indiana fell within 112-109 on a Ben Shepherd layup with 9.5 seconds left and Nick Clifford hit two free throws to keep the Pacers winless since the All-Star break.

Carter shot 9-for-13 from the field and 3-for-4 from 3-point range in just over 16 minutes against Sacramento, which had won two straight for the first time since a four-game winning streak in mid-January.

Maxime Reino had 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Kings, while Russell Westbrook had 16 points and nine assists. DeMar DeRozan and Clifford each scored 12 points, and Daekwon Prowden added 10 points.

Aaron Nesmith led Indiana with 29 points. In the match between the two teams with the NBA’s worst records, Obi Toppin finished with 17 points, Kam Jones with 14 points, Jay Huff with 12 points, and Micah Porter with 11 points.

Sacramento led for most of the opening quarter before Indiana closed with a 6-0 run to take a 25-24 lead on a layup by Porter.

The Pacers took a 42-32 lead with 6:07 left in the second quarter and took a 59-42 lead after Huff hit a 3-pointer and Nesmith scored to end the half.

Nesmith led Indiana with 24 points on 8-of-11 shooting in the first half, while Raynaud had 10 points for Sacramento.

The Kings won 82-72 at the end of the third quarter after going on a 14-4 run. Drew Eubanks had two foul shots in the final minute.

Indiana played without starters TJ McConnell (hamstring), Pascal Siakam (knee) and Andrew Nemhard (back/neck).

Kings guard Malik Monk left the game in the second quarter with a right ankle injury and did not return.
