Mandatory Credit: Joe Camporeale-Imagn Images Devin Booker scored 32 points, Jalen Green added 25, and the host Phoenix Suns almost squandered a 14-point lead in the fourth quarter before dominating the New Orleans Pelicans 118-116 on Friday.
Oso Igodaro had 13 points and Grayson Allen and Colin Gillespie each had 12 points for the Suns, who made 20 3-pointers on a season-high 58 attempts.
Booker made five 3-pointers, Gillespie made four, and Green and Royce O’Neill (11 points) each made three.
Trey Murphy III had 22 points and four treys, Zion Williamson and Saddiq Bey each had 19 points and Dejounte Murray added 15 points for the Pelicans, who have won five of seven.
The Suns have swept their fourth straight series of the season and have won five straight against the Pelicans. They have lost 7 of 11 games overall.
Booker had 18 points in the third quarter, and the Suns extended their lead to 92-78 before the Pelicans finished strong.
Murray hit a 3-pointer with 46.1 seconds left to cut Phoenix’s lead to 114-111.
Booker missed a contested jumper and fouled Bey, who made two free throws to make it 14-4 with 11.7 seconds left as the Pelicans got within one point, 114-113.
Allen hit two free throws with 9.8 seconds left to make it 116-113. With 8.6 seconds left, Williamson made one of two free throws, and Booker made two free throws to make it 118-114.
Herb Jones’ dunk brought the Pelicans within 118-116 with 5.3 seconds left, and although the Suns had trouble inbounding the ball under the basket, the Pelicans were unable to stop the loose ball as time expired.
New Orleans finished 3-3 in six games on the road.
Murray, who was 5 of 13 from the field, had eight rebounds and five assists in his fifth game back from an Achilles injury. He did not play for the first game of a back-to-back Thursday.
Suns reserve center Khaman Maluach had a season-high four points, four rebounds and five blocks 20 minutes after Igodaro fouled out after committing his fifth foul with 5:52 left in the third quarter.
The Suns played without center Mark Williams (foot) and forward Dylan Brooks (hand) and went with a three-guard lineup of Booker, Green and Gillespie for the third straight game.
