Brandon Maclin scored 18 points to lead DePaul to a 62-51 win over Marquette on Sunday afternoon in Milwaukee.

It was DePaul’s (16-13, 8-10 Big East) fourth win in five games. DePaul (16-13, 8-10 Big East) also got 10 points and a game-high 16 rebounds from NJ Benson. This marks the first time DePaul has won at least eight Big East games since 2006-07.

Nigel James Jr. led Marquette (10-19, 5-13 Big East) with 14 points and seven rebounds, and Chase Ross, who had been struggling with a shoulder injury, added 12 points.

After the Golden Eagles jumped out to a 9-0 lead to take an early advantage, the rest of the first half was ugly for them.

DePaul finished the first half up as much as 21-1 as Marquette failed to make a field goal in the final 7:38.

The Golden Eagles were 0-for-10 from beyond the arc and 5-for-22 (22.7%) from the floor in the first half. They also committed eight turnovers that led to 15 DePaul points as the Blue Demons took a 32-14 lead at the break.

The halftime break helped Marquette. To start the second half, the Golden Eagles found the stroke of matching their first-half point total four minutes into the second half.

Late in the first half, Marquette rattled off a 16-2 run, knocking five of seven shots on the floor and turning DePaul over four times in that span. The Golden Eagles cut the deficit to three points.

DePaul was tested, but responded and stayed. The Blue Demons shot just 8 of 23 from the floor in the second but made 11 of 15 attempts from the line.

It was an unforgettable night in the division for Marquette. The Golden Eagles were just 11-for-22 from the charity stripe in the game.

DePaul swept its regular season series against its regional rival for the first time since the 1990-91 season. The Blue Demons also won their third straight Big East road game for the first time in program history.
