On Sunday night, American tennis star and two-time Grand Slam champion Coco Gauff was forced to withdraw from her two-set second round match against Alex Eala with an arm injury.
It was the second time Gauff retired during a match. She tried to overcome it by going through therapy, massages and, ultimately, multiple medical timeouts to have her arms taped.

Gauff barely suffered any injuries and fans were sad and worried watching her suffer on the court.
Gauff later posted on social media that he was scheduled to get an MRI on Monday to find out more. She and others speculated that the fireworks sensation she felt may have been nerve-related.
Two days later, fans are still wondering how serious the injury is.
Neither Gauff nor her team have commented publicly on the MRI results.
No news is very unusual, and tennis fans believe that no news is necessarily good news.
The start of the WTA 1000 Miami Open, one of Gauff’s favorite events on the annual calendar, is just days away.

The Miami Open is Gauff’s favorite tournament.
Gauff, 21, was born in Palm Beach, Florida, and considers this tournament her home tournament. Family and friends who don’t always travel from around the world come to the Miami Open to see her play.
She won the 2023 Miami Open doubles title with Jessica Pegula.

Whatever the injury, she wants to stay healthy and ready to defend her French Open title in May. This was Gauff’s biggest and best win of 2025.
