Travis Kelce has an important decision to make this NFL offseason as the Kansas City Chiefs legend chooses whether to continue his professional football career.
But after Kansas City’s underperformance in 2025, the greatest tight end of all time will likely continue his career. The Chiefs missed the postseason for the second time in Kelce’s 13-year career.

According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, Travis Kelce is “motivated” to return for his 14th year in the NFL. The four-time All-Pro pass catcher is an upcoming free agent for Kansas City despite spending his entire career with the AFC West franchise.

The Chiefs finished third in the division, which was unusual for a team led by coach Andy Reid.
Quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Kelce have built an incredible bond for the team over the years. They have played key roles in all three of the franchise’s Super Bowl titles over the past seven years.
However, Mahomes is coming off a serious knee injury in 2025. Kelce has also suffered significant damage to his body during his 10-plus year career, so this may play a role in his decision.

Meanwhile, Travis Kelce and his pop star fiancé Taylor Swift are reportedly scheduled to get married on June 13 in Rhode Island. Even if Kelce decides to continue her career, the celebrity couple will definitely have a busy summer.

Kansas City could opt to move on from Kelce given his age and the Chiefs’ struggles in the passing game. Kelce finished the 2025 season with just 76 receptions and over 800 yards, but some of the tight end’s slow production was due to Mahomes’ injury.
