Mandatory Credit: Scott Kinser-Imagn Image Brandon Miller connected on six 3-pointers as part of his game-high 26 points as the Charlotte Hornets beat the visiting Portland Trail Blazers 109-93 on Saturday afternoon.
Coby White scored 20 points off the bench (10 in the first half) in his delayed home debut for the Hornets after being traded from Chicago and spending time off with an injury.
LaMelo Ball had 15 points and 8 assists, Myles Bridges had 14 points, and Moussa Diabate had 13 points and 11 rebounds as the Hornets won their fourth straight game.
Miller went 6-for-12 on 3-point attempts. Charlotte’s Kon Knueppel finished with 10 points, going 2-for-7 from long range in his first game since the rookie set an NBA season record for 3-pointers.
Jrue Holiday led the Trail Blazers with 25 points and Jerami Grant provided 21 points. Grant scored 20 points in four consecutive games for the first time this season. Toumani Camara added 12 points for Portland, who shot 11-for-47 from three, 2-for-18 from reserves and shot 40.7% overall from the field.
The Trail Blazers trailed 84-77 with 8:26 left before Bridges hit a 3-pointer to spark a 10-0 spurt. Portland, in its second stop of a five-game road trip, had just two points in nearly four minutes.
Portland finished the game with 17 turnovers and 22 assists.
After building a 15-point lead, Charlotte held a 51-43 halftime lead. The Trail Blazers went 5-for-22 (22.7%) on 3-pointers.
Bridges and Diabate played in their first home games since serving their role suspensions in a brawl against the Detroit Pistons on February 9. They combined for 19 rebounds to help give the Hornets a 55-39 edge on the boards.
Donovan Clingan started and played 26 minutes with seven points for the Trail Blazers after missing Thursday’s win at Chicago due to illness.
