Lauren Betts finished with 26 points and eight rebounds, and the top-seeded Bruins made a late run to dominate the eighth-seeded Huskies in the first quarterfinals on Friday.
UCLA (29-1) clung to a one-point lead with 2 minutes and 33 seconds left in the third quarter and then closed the game with a 7-0 run. All-American Betts then went to work, scoring six points in nearly four minutes of the fourth quarter for a 13-3 run.
Two spurts created breathing room after Washington (21-10) gave the Bruins a scare in the third quarter and a change of pace. The Huskies built a 10-point lead following a hot start from Avery Howell and Sayvia Sellers, who both scored a team-high 18 points in the first half.
Sellers scored half of his 10 points early in the second period as Washington took a 22-12 lead. UCLA maintained the lead the rest of the game as Kiki Rice scored seven of her 18 points to give the Bruins a 15-0 win.
