Big 12 Recap: Iowa State scores 49 points, the most in conference tournament history.

Milan Momsilovic scored 21 points and Joshua Jefferson added 20 points and 12 rebounds as No. 7 Iowa State University defeated Arizona State University 91-42 in the second round of the Big 12 Conference Tournament on Wednesday in Kansas City, Missouri.

The fifth-seeded Cyclones (26-6) face Texas Tech (No. 16), the fourth seed in the latest AP poll, in the quarterfinals Thursday afternoon.

Iowa State led by as many as 33 points in the first half and 29 points at halftime, holding the 12th-seeded Sun Devils to 31.8 percent shooting from the floor while forcing 15 turnovers that led to 18 points for the Cyclones. The second half wasn’t much better for Arizona State. Iowa State eventually extended the margin to 49 points, making the margin of victory the largest in Big 12 tournament history.

Blake Buchanan added 17 points and Tamin Lipsey had 11 for the Cyclones. Santiago Trouet led Arizona State (17-16) with 13 points and was the only Sun Devil in double figures.

TCU 95, Oklahoma State 88

David Punch scored 26 points, Tanner Toolson hit a clutch 3-pointer and the Horned Frogs fought back from a 10-point deficit to win over the Cowboys.

The sixth-seeded Frogs (22-10) advance to the quarterfinals on Thursday and face No. 14 Kansas, the third seed. TCU has won at least one tournament game in four of the last five seasons. Toolson scored 19 points off the bench and Jayden Pierre added 13 points and five assists. Xavier Edmonds recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds for TCU, which has won all three games against Oklahoma State this season.

The 14th-seeded Cowboys (19-14) went on an 8-0 run, led by two 3-pointers from Anthony Roy, who finished with 25 points and nine rebounds, to take a 67-57 lead with less than 14 minutes remaining. Christian Coleman scored 15 points and Kanye Clary added 14 points and had five assists.

BYU 68, West Virginia 48

AJ Dybantsa continued his impressive form early in the Big 12 Tournament, scoring a game-high 27 points to lift the Cougars above the Mountaineers.

BYU (23-10), the tournament’s No. 10 seed, advanced to the quarterfinals and will face No. 2 seed Houston (No. 5 in the nation) Thursday night. Dybantsa, one of the top NBA draft prospects who set a freshman tournament record with 40 points in the Cougars’ opening win over Kansas State on Tuesday, went 11-of-24 from the field with seven rebounds and three assists.

The Mountaineers (18-14) were led by Honor Huff’s 17 points. Brennen Lorient added 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds.

UCF 66, Cincinnati 65

Riley Kugel had 15 points, including two baskets that helped send the game to overtime, and John Bol added four huge free throws in overtime as the Knights outlasted the Bearcats.

The eighth-seeded Knights (21-10) advanced to the quarterfinals and faced top-seeded Arizona on Thursday afternoon. Cincinnati (18-15), which took an eight-point lead with 2 minutes, 17 seconds left in regulation, suffered a major blow to its NCAA tournament hopes.

Ja-Michael Stillwell led the Knights with 17 points and 15 rebounds, and Ball added 13 points. Moustapha Thiam paced Cincinnati with 18 points, 16 rebounds and five blocks.
