BetBoom, Spirit, Yandex and Liquid advance to PGL Wallachia 7 playoffs

BetBoom Team, Team Spirit, Team Yandex and Team Liquid advanced to the upper bracket semifinals on the first day of the PGL Wallachia Season 7 playoffs on Thursday in Bucharest, Romania.

BetBoom defeated HEROIC 2-0 and Spirit did the same to Vici Gaming. Yandex beat Aurora Gaming 2-1 and Liquid beat Tundra Esports 2-1.

The million-dollar Dota 2 tournament’s double-elimination playoffs run until Sunday. All matches will be played in a best-of-three format leading up to Sunday’s best-of-five finals, with the winning team taking home $300,000.

Eight teams advanced from the 16-team group stage, which ended on Wednesday.

On Thursday, BetBoom won in 37 and 47 minutes on the green against HEROIC. Russia’s Ilya “Kiritych” Ulyanov averaged 8.5 kills, 2.5 deaths, and 10.5 assists across BetBoom’s two maps.

Spirit beat Vici in all reds in 44 and 54 minutes. Ukraine’s Illya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk led Team Spirit with an average kill-death-assist ratio of 11.0-3.0-7.0.

Yandex had Aurora’s 60-minute win in green followed by a 37-minute win and a 40-minute win in red. Kazakhstan’s Alimzhan “watson” Islambekov averaged 11.3-2.0-11.0 KDA to guide Yandex.

Tundra started with a 31-minute win in green, but Liquid tied the score with a 30-minute win in red and won the third map in 29 minutes in red to advance. In a dominant final map, Poland’s Michal “Nisha” Jankowski had a 16-0-10 KDA and Sweden’s Liquid teammate Michael “miCKe” Vu had an 11-0-15.
