ATP Recap: Felix Auger-Aliassime advances to Dubai semifinals

Top seed Felix Auger-Aliassime continued his streak by beating eighth seed Jiri Lehecka 6-3, 7-6(2) in the quarterfinals of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships in the United Arab Emirates on Thursday.

Auger-Aliassime is looking to advance to a third consecutive final with her 11th win in 12 games this month. The Canadian is also looking to go one better than last year in Dubai, where he fell in the 2025 championship game.

Auger-Aliassime had a 16-7 edge in aces against her Czech opponent on Thursday. Lehecka did not break serve in the match.

Next up for Auger-Aliassime was third-seeded Russian Daniil Medvedev, who beat Jenson Brooksby of the United States 6-2, 6-1 in the quarterfinals.

In the other semifinals, 5th seeded Russian Andrey Rublev defeated France’s Artur Linderknech 6-2, 6-4, and Netherlands’ Talon Grigspoor, who defeated 6th seeded Jakub Mencik (Czech Republic) 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.

BCI Seguros Chile Open

Third seed Sebastian Baez, a three-time finalist in this tournament held in Santiago, Chile, advanced to the quarterfinals by defeating Chile’s Cristian Garin 7-6(2), 1-6, 7-5.

The Argentine won the 2024 Santiago title but fell out of the championship matches in 2022 and 2025. He won on Thursday thanks to saving seven of Garin’s eight break points.

Another Argentine, Francisco Cerundolo, defeated Denmark’s Elmer Moller 6-2, 6-2. Eighth-seeded Chilean Alejandro Tabilo beat Argentina’s Thiago Agustín Tyrante 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, while American Emilio Nava beat Paraguayan qualifier Adolfo Daniel Vallejo 7-5, 6-3.

Fifth-seeded Flavio Covoli (Italy) broke two set points against Chinese qualifier Wu Yibing in the opening set and won 7-6(4), 6-1 in the quarterfinals in Acapulco, Mexico.

Cobolli went a perfect 8-for-8 on Wu’s break points, two more to win the first set and two more in the final game of the match.

Eighth seed Francis Tiafoe of the United States beat Italy’s Mattia Bellucci 6-3, 6-4, and Serbia’s Miomir Kecmanovic beat France’s Terence Atmane 6-3, 6-3. The final match of the night saw sixth seed Valentin Vacherot of Monaco take on Brandon Nakashima of the United States.
