What’s important about 99? 99 OVR is the highest rating possible in Madden. During the season, ratings are updated weekly based on actual player performance and skill set, so attributes such as speed, catches, and tackles are all taken into account.
What is Madden 99 Club?
Modern Madden’s ratings fluctuate due to the advent of something called the Internet. This rating used to be fixed throughout the year, but now moves slightly as the season progresses based on how the player plays.
So that got me thinking. Of all the versions of Madden over the last 20+ years, up until 1998, how many had an OVR rating of 99?

Madden 21 Player Ratings
EA Sports has announced four ranked players for Madden 99 before the season begins. And we added four more players for the season.
Madden 99 Club: Christian McCaffrey, Aaron Donald, michael Thomas, Stephen Gilmore.
Added Seahawks QB Russell Wilson on October 15, 2020. And on November 19, 2020, they added Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins again. Before his Hail Mary game-winning performance against the Bills, Hopkins was 98 years old. Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was added on December 10, 2020. Packers WR Devonte Adams added on December 30, 2020.
Madden 22 Player Ratings
Madden 22 featured five players in the 99 Club at the start of the season, with three more added throughout the season.
