After a tight first half, second-place Arizona overwhelmed Colorado.

Freshmen Koa Peat and Brayden Burries combined for 56 points on 21-of-31 shooting from the field to lead second-ranked Arizona to an 89-79 win over Colorado on Saturday night in Boulder, Colorado.

Arizona (29-2, 16-2 Big 12) set the program record for most wins in the regular season.

Burries scored 22 of his career-high 31 points in the second half and Peat had 25 points in the final regular season game for both teams.

For Arizona, Motiejus Krivas, Tobe Awaka and Ivan Kharchenkov each scored 10 points and shot 70.4 percent from the field in the second half.

Colorado’s Isaiah Johnson broke the program’s freshman scoring record, scoring a career-high 28 points to give him 526 points. Alec Burks set the previous record with 512 points in 2009-10.

Barrington Hargress scored 13 points and Jalin Holland finished with 12 points and five rebounds for Colorado (17-14, 7-11).

Arizona built a 73-64 lead with 7:15 left on a 12-2 run that included 3-pointers by Burries and Dwayne Aristode and two baskets by Awaka.

Arizona did not lead in the first half for the first time this season.

The Wildcats tied the game four times in the early stages, the last of which was a jumper by Peat with 13:14 left to tie the game at 14-14.

Colorado then outscored Arizona 12-4, limiting the Wildcats to one field goal in five minutes.

Arizona took a 26-23 lead with 6 minutes and 46 seconds left in the first half, but Colorado responded with a 10-2 run.

Back-to-back 3-pointers by Elijah Malone and Johnson gave Colorado a 36-25 lead with 4:21 left.

Arizona closed the first half on an 11-2 run and stopped a shot from the field over the last 4:21 to go into halftime down 38-36.

Colorado missed its last five shots of the first half, while Arizona made three of its last four attempts.

The Wildcats took their first lead with 16:59 left in regulation when Kharchenkov hit a layup to put Arizona ahead 48-46.

An 8-0 run gave Arizona its largest lead, 51-46, with 16:01 left.

Colorado outscored the Wildcats 8-1 behind three straight jumpers by Bangot Dak to regain the lead at 54-52 with 13 minutes, 21 seconds left.

Dak had to sit out after committing his fourth foul with 12:55 remaining.

Arizona led 82-74 before fouling out with 1 minute and 16 seconds left.
