Best college basketball bets today: Miami Ohio State Friday headlines

Some conference tournaments are already underway, but many are still concluding each regular season. In today’s best college basketball bets, we’ll focus on regular season action.

Columbia vs Harvard

Harvard generally struggles to score (308th nationally, 70.8 ppg), but has one of the best defenses in the country (27th, 66.7 ppg allowed). The Crimson defense will likely stifle the Lions offense once again. But I expect Columbia’s defense will be able to keep Harvard’s lackluster offense from going wild.

My pick: -110 to under 133.5

The total is pretty small. The final score of these two’s regular season games is a total of 133 points. Harvard has participated in a similar total of four games (two vs. Brown, two vs. Princeton). The under was 3-1.

We know the Harvard defense can keep the Lions’ offense in check. I expect the Columbia defense to step up and do a better job this time around while keeping the score low.

No. 19 Miami (OH) vs. ohio

Miami (OH) has one of the best offenses in the country (3rd, 90.3 points per game). Ohio has an adequate offense (152nd nationally, 77 ppg) but poor defense (77.3 ppg allowed, 272nd nationally). When these two met on February 13, the RedHawks won 90-74.

So this is natural, right? Will Miami (OH) win or cover? The short answer is – you should. However, the offensive line failed to score more than 74 points in the last three games and failed to cover in the last two games.

My Pick: Miami (OH) -110 to -5.5

At this stage they are unbeaten in 30 games and have covered 19 of the 27 games for which they have a betting line. There is no point in playing against him in the last game.

No. 18 St. John’s vs. seaton hall

St. John’s is on a roll, having won 15 of its last 16 games. But Seton Hall isn’t too shabby either, winning four of their last six games. When these two teams played earlier in the season, St. St. John’s was an 11.5-point favorite but had to overcome a 15-point second-half deficit to win 65-60.

The Red Storm will try to push the pace by scoring quickly and often. Seton Hall grinds it out and beats St. Louis in favor of a half-court game that slows it to a crawl. Effectively nullifying John’s speed advantage. They did it in the first game. Surely they can do it again… Right?

UNDER is 6-0 in St. John’s last six games overall and 6-3 in Seton Hall’s last nine games overall. They finished below this number earlier this season and expect a similar performance tonight.
