President Donald Trump fired Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem on Thursday, making her the first Cabinet member to be removed in Trump’s second term. An administration official told NBC News that the move was a culmination of “many unfortunate leadership failures” by Noem, most recently a grilling on Capitol Hill over a $220 million border security ad campaign that singled her out.
