If Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves win a championship soon, the NBA could lose one of its biggest stars.
The 24-year-old has become the face of the league since bursting onto the scene in 2020. Edwards was drafted first overall by the Timberwolves and has put the franchise in a position to succeed in the competitive Western Conference.
But Anthony Edwards recently teased a potential career turnaround if Minnesota wins an NBA championship. The former Georgia Bulldogs star said there are some caveats to potentially leaving basketball for the NFL.

The Timberwolves superstar declared that he has another sport in mind that he would like to conquer. Meanwhile, his athletic prowess will likely only pay off if he wins an NBA ring before age 30.
“I’m trying to figure out a way to get the ring, but once I get it, I’ll be fine,” Edwards said in a social media video. “I’ll probably go play soccer, especially if I play soccer while I’m still young.”
“If I play soccer before I turn 30, I will definitely go there.”

A former five-star high school recruit, he has been an elite basketball player since he was a teenager. But football has been on Edwards’ mind for some time, as he is an avid fan of the NFL.
Edwards even joked that he would totally enjoy playing wide receiver or backup quarterback.
“Probably the receiver,” Edwards said. “I might try to play quarterback, maybe a backup quarterback. I don’t really have to play unless the starter gets hurt. If the starting quarterback gets hurt and everyone likes the backup… playing behind (Patrick Mahomes) or something, I could do that.”
