The New York Yankees cut their spring training camp roster by three players on Thursday.
more: Dave Roberts said the Dodgers are likely to add the former Blue Jays All-Star to their MLB roster.
Right-handers Travis MacGregor and Drake Fellows were reassigned to the Yankees’ minor league camp, and right-hander Chase Hampton was optioned to Double-A Somerset. He will also move his locker to the team’s minor league complex.
Of the three, only Fellows pitched in a Grapefruit League game. The 27-year-old allowed a shutout against the Detroit Tigers on Feb. 21. He threw 27 pitches, 14 strikes, and 2 walks.
The Yankees signed Fellows to a minor league contract in December 2025.
McGregor, 28, also signed a minor league contract with the Yankees in December after moving to the Texas Rangers and Milwaukee Brewers last season.
Hampton, 24, is the Yankees’ eighth-best prospect, according to MLB Pipeline. Hampton, a 2022 sixth-round draft pick, underwent Tommy John surgery in February 2025 and was not expected to fully participate in camp.
The Yankees got a brief glimpse of Hampton during a bullpen session, but they’ll have to wait to see him in game action on the minor league side.
The Yankees’ spring training roster still has 30 non-roster invitees remaining, and it would take a lot of cutting to get that number down to 26 by Opening Day.
