Report: Rams acquire Chiefs All-Pro CB Trent McDuffie.

The Los Angeles Rams appear to be adding a game-changer to their secondary.

Trent McDuffie is on his way to Los Angeles as the Rams are working on a trade to acquire the All-Pro cornerback from the Kansas City Chiefs, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Wednesday.

In return for McDuffie, the Rams reportedly plan to send a package of four picks, including the 29th overall pick in April’s 2026 NFL Draft, fifth- and sixth-round picks and a 2027 third-round pick.

McDuffie, 25, is expected to sign a long-term deal with the Rams.

The 21st overall pick in 2022 comes in his fourth NFL season, in which he has one interception, seven pass deflections, one forced fumble and one sack over 13 games. The University of Washington product has three interceptions, 34 pass deflections, eight forced fumbles and 5.5 sacks in 56 career regular season games.

McDuffie served as an assistant for Kansas City throughout his professional career, helping lead the franchise to two Super Bowl titles during that time. He led all players in the 2023 postseason with seven pass deflections en route to the Chiefs’ second straight title.

In 2025, McDuffie helped backstop a defense that ranked 10th in yards allowed per game and 6th in total points allowed. The Chiefs also ranked near the top of the league in passing yards allowed per game.

Despite trading away their own first-rounder in 2026, the Rams will still have a selection in the opening round. Los Angeles owns Atlanta’s first-round selection (13th overall) after the Rams gave the Falcons their first (and third) pick in 2025, which they used to draft James Pierce Jr.

Wheeling and dealing first-round picks has been Rams general manager Les Snead’s trademark. That’s because the franchise has handled its own top pick every year since 2017. LA previously acquired All-Pro CB Marcus Peters from the Chiefs in 2018 in a similar deal.

It’s also the second time in three seasons that Kansas City has decided to move a top secondary player rather than re-sign him to a lucrative contract. The Chiefs traded L’Jarius Sneed to the Tennessee Titans in 2024.
