Actor Cristo Fernandez, who played happy-go-lucky striker Dani Rojas in the Apple TV series ‘Ted Lasso’, recently received a professional apology.
KVIA reported Wednesday that Fernandez, 35, played with the El Paso Locomotives of the United Soccer League in Saturday’s preseason game against New Mexico United.

It was like a test. According to Goal.com’s Tom Hindle, Locomotive are expected to decide early this week whether to offer Fernandes a professional contract.
The USL is comprised of professional and amateur teams and is effectively a feeder league for better teams such as Major League Soccer. According to Goal.com, Fernandez also appeared in a game against the Chicago Fire II, the MLS club’s reserve team, rather than the 2025 NBC series.
Fernández was a star soccer player for Mexico during his youth before a horrific knee injury ended his career. He then studied acting and landed in England where he played the role of Rojas.
Fernandez’s acting credits also include the Apple comedy series “Acapulco.”
The fourth season of Ted Lasso is scheduled to begin streaming on Apple TV+ this summer. With filming for the season already over, Fernandez is effectively a free agent both on and off screen.
