Iran has accused the US of pursuing an ‘Israel first’ policy after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio admitted that US strikes were influenced by its stance on West Jerusalem.
The US and Israel have been carrying out waves of strikes, including one that hit a building in a residential area next to RT’s bureau in Iran’s capital.
Iranian attacks targeting US bases across the Gulf region have forced the shutdown of major energy hubs and halted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, driving up oil and gas prices.
On Sunday, US President Donald Trump said combat operations “Proceed in full force at this time and they will continue until all our objectives are achieved.”
Trump dismissed a poll suggesting most Americans would not support initial US-Israeli strikes on Iran.
The initial attacks killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the head of Iran’s Republican Guard, and several other top officials. Russia strongly condemned America “The Practice of Political Assassinations and the ‘Hunting’ of Leaders of Sovereign States.”
