Real Madrid were beaten by Getafe and fell four points behind Barça in La Liga Football news

Satriano’s stunning volley gives the visitors a 1-0 win at the Santiago Bernabeu as Real miss injured forward Mbappe.

Real Madrid were handed a shock home defeat by Getafe – their second in a row in the Spanish Football League, leaving them four points behind leaders Barcelona.

Martin Satriano’s superb first-half volley earned Getafe a stunning 1-0 win at the Santiago Bernabeu on Monday.

Really dominated from the kickoff and controlled the game but failed to convert the pressure into goals, squandering several chances in a bad-tempered contest.

Alvaro Arbeloa’s side broke open in the 39th minute when a half-cleared cross dropped invitingly on the edge of the box and Satriano fired a fierce volley into the top left corner.

Madrid forward Franco Mastantuno was sent off for an apparent dissent in stoppage time, making it a bad night for Los Blancos.

“Obviously it was a match where we could have done things better, but my players tried and I think we had more clear chances than them,” Arbelova told reporters.

“However merit is not enough in football, and Getafe played a good game.”

With French superstar Kylian Mbappe in France to receive treatment for a knee sprain, Madrid lined up with Brazilian star Vinicius Junior alongside Gonzalo Garcia in attack.

The Bernabeu crowd responded with boos at half-time, prompting Arbeloa to introduce Dani Carvajal, Dean Huijsen and Rodrigo but the changes had little effect.

Real Madrid were beaten at Osasuna last weekend, allowing them to overtake rivals Barca in the title race, and Hansi Flick’s side took the lead by beating Villarreal on Saturday.

After an inconsistent start to the season, Vinicius turned down a great opening opportunity in 2026 in top form. The winger burst through on goal but David Soria saved well with his leg.

Arda Guler’s brilliant roulette earned Madrid the breakthrough but Soria tipped over the Turkish forward’s strike.

Getafe were upset by a painful clash between Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger and Diego Rico, in which the German’s knee struck the Spaniard’s head.

Uruguayan forward Satriano broke the deadlock with a delicious strike from the edge of the box after compatriot Mauro Arambarri nodded the ball into his path.

A well-played Soria escaped Vinicius in the second half and the Brazilian called for more support from Madrid’s fans.

However the team didn’t give them much to get excited about, although Rudiger came close to equalizing with a header.

It was an inconsistent performance from a Madrid side that visited Celta Vigo on Friday in La Liga before hosting Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the Champions League last 16, with top scorer Mbappe unsure whether he would be fit to play.

Mastantuono was dismissed in stoppage time for telling the referee, Getafe were reduced to 10 men when Adrian Lisso kicked the ball and was shown a second yellow card.

“No one is throwing in the towel here, this is Real Madrid, you don’t give up until the last game,” Arbelova added.

“Four points is a gap we can close and we will fight for it.”

Jose Bordalas’ Getafe moved up to 11th and could celebrate their first win at the Bernabeu since 2008.

“It’s very difficult to get points when you come here, I have to congratulate the team for the defense, then we got our goal and we could have scored another at the end,” said Getafe defender Kiko Femenia.
