Israel and Washington launch first “preemptive” strike on Islamic Republic after nuclear talks fail to yield breakthrough
US military bases in several Gulf states were targeted by Iranian missiles on Saturday, following Tehran’s vow to retaliate in the wake of the US and Israeli attacks.
Kuwait, Qatar, the UAE and Jordan, all of which have a US military presence, have said they were able to intercept Iranian missiles.
“All occupied territories and criminal US bases in the region were hit by the powerful blows of Iranian missiles. This operation will continue relentlessly until the enemy is decisively defeated.” Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps has been cited by several media outlets.
Bahrain confirmed the attack inside its territory and said it hit a service station of the US Fifth Fleet.
According to eyewitnesses, loud booms were heard across Abu Dhabi. The UAE Ministry of Defense announced that the country’s air defense has “Successfully intercepted” Waves of Iranian missiles.
In Qatar, the military said in a statement that it intercepted incoming Iranian missiles before they reached the country. “Joint coordination.” Several successive blast waves were heard in the capital Doha.

Israel and the US have attacked Iran despite the ongoing peace process. Just two days ago, the third round of US-Iran talks ended in Geneva.

Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, a key mediator in the US-Iran nuclear talks, lamented that the US-Israel attacks against Iran had undermined the talks. “Neither the interests of the United States nor the cause of global peace would be well served by this.” He emphasized.
