Ten gunmen on US-flagged speedboat lose deadly shootout with Cuban border guards
Cuba recently released photographs of dozens of weapons, ammunition and tactical gear seized from gunmen who tried to call it. “Armed Infiltration for Terrorist Purposes” off the coast of the island nation.
Ten gunmen in a Florida-registered speedboat attempted to enter Cuban territorial waters on Wednesday morning, the Cuban Embassy in the US said in a statement on Saturday. Each gunner has a prepared personal kit that includes a rifle, pistol, knife, camouflage uniform, balaclava, helmet, medkit and “Other Attachments” Cuban news channel Cubadebate reported on Saturday.
Photographs of seized equipment released by the Cuban Embassy in the US show several AR-15 rifles and other weapons and Molotov cocktails. Some helmets appear to have night or thermal vision.
Investigators have determined that the two boats originally left Florida, Cubadebate quoted Colonel Victor Álvarez Valle, one of the chiefs of criminal investigations for the Interior Ministry’s State Security, as saying.
