Taylor Hall and Shayne Gostisbehere finished with a goal and two assists each as the Carolina Hurricanes extended their winning streak to five games with a 5-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Frederik Andersen made 27 saves, and Jackson Blake, Sebastian Aho and Eric Robinson also scored as the Hurricanes extended their point streak to 12 games (9-0-3).

Simon Edvinsson and Patrick Kane scored for the visiting Red Wings. Cam Talbot made 31 saves in the loss.

Hall made no mistake with 5:55 left in the first period as he broke through and made a slick backhand-forehand deck before putting the puck in the back of the net to put the Hurricanes up 1-0.

Carolina took advantage of the first power play of the game with 8 seconds left in the first half when Aho pushed a low shot that bounced off a defender’s stick into the back of the goal.

Robinson made it 3-0 for the Hurricanes less than three minutes into the second period, firing a shot past an outstretched Talbot.

Talbot made his best save of the night with 9:36 left in the middle frame, sliding quickly across the crease to rob Logan Stankoven.

Edvinsson got the Red Wings on the scoreboard with a 4-on-4 goal with 1:34 left in the second period as the young defenseman took a pass from Alex DeBrincat and sent it past Andersen and into the top corner.

Kane made it a one-goal game just 47 seconds later when he fired a shot over Andersen’s shoulder on the short side for his first goal in the last 15 games.

Gostisbehere went on a quick strike with Blake and then fired a shot past Talbot to retake Carolina’s two-goal lead 2:18 into the third period.

Blake scored his own goal in a 2-on-1 situation, looked at a pass, and sent a shot to the other side of the net with 14:30 left in the third to make it 5-2.
