Mark Delgado scored and had an assist after halftime, Stephen Eustaquio also hit a long-range shot, and visiting LAFC beat the nine-man Houston Dynamo 2-0 on Saturday night.

Son Heung-min recorded assists on both goals and drew both red-card fouls from his opponents as LAFC (2-0-0, 6 points) remained perfect for the fourth time in all competitions under new coach Marc dos Santos.

In extra time in the first half, Antonio Carlos scratched Son Heung-min’s Achilles tendon and was immediately given a red card for violent conduct. In the 76th minute, when the team was down 1-0, Agustin Bouzat was adjudged to have denied an obvious scoring opportunity by bringing down Son Heung-min just before half-time.

Hugo Lloris made two saves to keep his second clean sheet. Jonathan Bond stopped four shots for Houston (1-1-0, 3 points), which has two weeks left until its next game after next weekend’s trip to New England was postponed due to field installation delays.

Bouzat gave LAFC a scare early in the second half when he hit the crossbar near midfield after trying to get Lloris off his line.

But the visitors eventually took the lead in the 56th minute.

From Son Heung-min’s short corner, Dennis Buanga sent the ball to Delgado in the top left corner of the penalty area. Delgado took a touch to his right and then curled a 24-yard effort that beat Bond into the bottom right corner.

Canadian World Cup Eustaquio, on loan from FC Porto, scored his first MLS goal six minutes after Bouzi was sent off in a similar sequence.

This time, after dribbling towards the penalty area from Buanga’s short corner, Son Heung-min stabbed the ball to the right to Delgado, who found Eustaquio above the penalty arc.

Eustaquio took a controlling touch before unleashing his 25-yard strike through traffic past Bond and into the bottom left corner in the 82nd minute.

Even in the 11-on-11 game, LAFC had 63% possession in the first half, leading 9-6 in the first half and 2-1 in shots on target before halftime.

LAFC’s two attempts on goal came in the same sequence in the first 45, with Buanga and Son Heung-min forcing Bond into consecutive saves in the 37th minute.
