After dominating their opening opponents, FC Dallas and Nashville SC battled to a close 0-0 tie on Saturday in Frisco, Texas.

Nashville (1-0-1, 4 points) goalkeeper Brian Schweik made a pair of saves, earning his first MLS clean sheet in the encounter.

The team overcame the final six minutes and extra time after Matthew Corcoran received a second yellow card for a late sliding challenge on Dallas midfielder Kaick.

Dallas (1-0-1, 4 points) had the advantage in shots (10-7), goals (2-1) and corner kicks (4-3). Michael Collodi had one save in net.

Dallas’ Petar Musa had a golden opportunity to pass the first half uneventfully by blocking a ball outside the box and sending it to Schwake, who made a save in the 44th minute of the game and collected the ball.

Musa had a better chance in the 59th minute. A clever one-two with his strike partner Logan Farrington broke through Nashville’s backline and sent the ball off the near post.

Farrington finished with the ball at his feet in the 70th minute after Joaquin Valiente’s cross inadvertently deflected off defender Jeison Palacios, but appeared to lose his footing in tight space.

Cristian Espinoza had two stunning chances in a row midway through the second half for Nashville, deflecting them in the 75th and 78th minutes, respectively.

Schwake had one last chance in added time when he denied substitute Anderson Julio’s long-range strike.

The Boys in Gold replaced nine players from Tuesday night’s CONCACAF Champions Cup match against Atletico Ottawa, leaving only Schwake and Corcoran in the starting 11.

Valiente and Nashville defender Jordan Knight both made their MLS debuts. This game was the first meeting between the two teams since June 2023. The visitors were without the help of star striker Sam Surridge, who was sidelined through illness.
