Mandatory Credit: Jerome Miron-Imagn Image Jason Robertson’s goal 1:47 into overtime capped a comeback and gave the host Dallas Stars a 3-2 victory over the Nashville Predators on Saturday night.
Wyatt Johnston had a goal and an assist and Nathan Bastian also scored for the Stars, who were down 2-0 with less than four minutes left in the second quarter. Jake Oettinger stopped 25 shots.
It was Dallas’ 8th straight win.
Michael Bunting and Steven Stamkos scored for the Predators, who are 1-1-2 in their last four games. Luke Evangelista had two assists and Juse Saros made 22 saves.
Robertson converted a cross Chris pass from defenseman Miro Heiskanen for the OT winner.
Bastian tied the game at 2:05:31 in the third period. He controlled and blocked the rebound of defender Thomas Haley’s shot.
With 3 minutes and 42 seconds left in the second half, Johnston’s power play goal made Dallas score 2-1. He put in a cross-creased pass from Jamie Benn. It was Johnston’s 20th power play marker of the season. He scored 32 goals overall.
The Predators took a 2-0 lead with a goal differential 1:09 into the first period.
Bunting opened the scoring with a power play goal with 5 minutes and 34 seconds left in the first half, shooting from the left circle.
Stamkos stole the puck from Benn along the boards just outside the Dallas blue line and began rushing toward the goal. After receiving a pass from Evangelista, Stamkos scored his 30th goal from the inside edge of the right circle with 4 minutes, 25 seconds left in the first quarter. This is the 10th time in his career that Stamkos has reached 30 goals.
Saros made a brilliant save against Johnston with less than nine minutes left in the first half. Johnston received a pass on the right wing and skated across the top of the crease. However, Saros used his right pad and stick to block Johnston’s shot.
Nashville defenseman Adam Wilsby left early in the second quarter with a lower body injury.
Stars’ Roope Hintz missed his second straight game due to illness.
