Modi’s charisma is a key factor in BJP’s bid to retain all 26 seats in Gujarat.

AHMEDABAD: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s charisma is one of the key factors likely to influence voters in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Gujarat, according to political observers.

The Lok Sabha elections in Gujarat will be held in one phase on May 7, with the recount on June 4. Anti-incumbency, unemployment, inflation, education and health facilities are some of the other key issues in the election, where the ruling BJP in Gujarat will try to retain all 26 Lok Sabha seats in 2019.

Gujarat is one of the states that will play an important role in determining the results of the Lok Sabha elections. In the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party won all 26 seats in the state.

Here are some of the issues that will play a decisive role in the Gujarat elections:

Charisma of Prime Minister Narendra Modi: The ruling BJP has a trump card as prime minister, who hails from Gujarat and was the country’s chief minister from 2001 to 2014 before assuming the country’s top post. His rule over his followers in his own country still continues.

Anti-dominance:
Observers feel that the opposition will try to exploit the anti-incumbency sentiments during the last 10 years of BJP’s rule at the Centre. They feel that “moderate voters” who do not vote based on ideology will be swept away by the opposition if they are presented with reasonable alternatives.

Inflation:
Low- and middle-income households have been hit the hardest by the effects of inflation. So it will be a decisive factor that the price hike in the last 10 years has affected people’s lives. The opposition has been constantly targeting the Modi government on this issue.

Unemployment:
This is another point that the opposition parties are using to attack the centre. Since this issue directly affects the lives of the common people, it will be uppermost in the minds of the voters when they exercise their right. Lack of basic education and health facilities in remote areas: If schools are built in remote areas, there will be a shortage of teachers. The lack of primary health centers and doctors also has a negative impact on health services in rural areas. Farmers’ Issues: Lack of adequate compensation for crop loss due to excessive rains, lack of fertilizers and acquisition of land for project development will also play a major role in influencing voter sentiment.
