Dubai had a fire near its airport and temporarily grounded flights, but Trump said Iran wanted to negotiate.

Israel launched a new wave of attacks on Tehran as the US-Israel war on Iran entered its 17th day on Monday.
The escalation continues in the Gulf region, where authorities have grounded flights at Dubai International Airport after a drone incident sparked a fire nearby. Dubai-based Emirates announced the resumption of limited flights, with several scheduled routes canceled for the day.
Saudi Arabia has also reportedly intercepted drones. Attacks also continued in Iraq and Lebanon.
Meanwhile, in a social media post, United States President Donald Trump, without providing evidence, accused Iran of being a “master of media manipulation” using artificial intelligence (AI) to spread misinformation about its war gains.
Here’s what we know about what happened in the last 24 hours:
In Iran
- Israel announced that it had launched a new wave of attacks on Tehran. Following this, Iran’s Mehr news agency reported that Iran was responding to “hostile targets in the sky” over Tehran.
- The Iranian Red Crescent Society said recent Israeli attacks damaged one of its clinics and an aid post.
- In an interview with CBS News on Sunday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi dismissed Trump’s claim that Tehran wanted to negotiate a deal. “No, we have never asked for a ceasefire, and we have never even asked for talks. We are ready to defend ourselves as long as possible,” he said.
- Brigadier-General Ali Mohammad Naini, spokesman for Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), told local broadcasters that most of the IRGC’s weapons stockpile remained intact. He said the missiles used in the ongoing war were “a decade old” and that Iran had not yet fired missiles produced after the 12-day war with Israel.
- Iranian authorities have arrested 18 people accused of working for Iran International, a satellite news channel that Tehran accuses of having ties to Israel, according to state-funded broadcaster Press TV.
- As of Sunday, 1,444 people have been killed and 18,551 injured in Iran.
in the bay
- Dubai authorities reported that a fire broke out near Dubai Airport after an incident involving a drone. Officials said the fuel tank was damaged and the fire was brought under control. Flights were temporarily suspended at the airport but a limited schedule resumed on Monday.
- Saudi Arabia on Monday said it had intercepted 37 drones in its east. Riyadh did not say where the drones came from.
- Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar also reported drone interceptions on Sunday.
- Saudi state media reported that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan discussed the latest regional developments in a phone call, affirming that the GCC countries will continue their all-out efforts to protect their territories.
In the US
- On board Air Force One, Trump said the US was striking Iran’s drone factories. “Iran has very little firepower. We have destroyed their production capacity,” he said.
- In a Truth Social post, Trump wrote that Iran is “militarily ineffective and weak” and that they are using AI as a “weapon of disinformation.” He said: “They showed phoney ‘kamikaze boats’, shooting at various ships in the sea, which looked fantastic, powerful and evil, but these boats did not exist.”
In Israel
- Local media reported that air raid sirens were activated in central Israel early Monday after a missile was fired from Iran, but the projectiles landed in an open area and no casualties were reported. Then, sirens blared in the south of Israel.
In Iraq, Lebanon and Jordan
- An Iraqi security source told Al Jazeera that the airstrike hit the headquarters of the pro-Iranian Popular Mobilization Force (PMF) in the Zurf al-Sakhr region. Three people were injured in the attack.
- Iraqi security sources told Al Jazeera that the country’s air defense units responded to the drones near the US embassy in Baghdad and the Balad airbase in Salah al-Din governorate.
- Israel launched new waves of attacks on southern Lebanon. The Israeli military says it is launching a limited ground operation against Hezbollah. The death toll in Lebanon has risen to 850, including more than 100 children.
- The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) said three of its patrols were fired upon by non-state armed groups on Sunday afternoon.
