Rachel McAdams pays tribute to the late Diane Keaton at the Oscars: ‘An endless legend’ | Oscar Awards 2026

The 98th edition of the Oscars in Los Angeles has paid tribute to one of Hollywood’s most beloved and unique stars, Diane Keaton, who died in October 2025, at the age of 79.

Rachel McAdams, who played Keaton’s daughter in 2005’s The Family Stone, took the stage to remember a woman who “wore so many hats, literally and figuratively,” calling her “an endless legend.”

“For more than 50 years, luminous on screen and indelible in life, believe me when I say there is not an actress of my generation who is not inspired and captivated by her absolute uniqueness,” McAdams said.

“She wore many hats, literally and figuratively: actress, artist, author, activist, but no role was more important to her than being a mother to her two children. She meant a lot to many of us.”

McAdams concluded: “I remember she used to sing that old Girl Scout song she used to sing on set, which is for her: ‘Make new friends, but keep the old ones. One is silver and one is gold. A circle is round, there’s no end. Until then I’ll be your friend.’ And also to our friend Diane Keaton, celebrating a life in silver and gold, a legend without end.”
