AI agents will eventually pay a million times more than humans

The concept of “Agency Economy” is moving from white papers to reality.

Following Meta’s acquisition of AI agent platform Moltbook yesterday (which saw the MOLT token rise 258%), industry titans Changpeng Zhao (CZ) and Brian Armstrong released a joint report: the future of crypto is not for humans – it’s for AI.

On March 9, CZ announced that AI agents will eventually make payments a million times higher than humans, and that these payments will have to be made in crypto because AI cannot pass a Know Your Customer (KYC) check at a traditional bank.

It’s not just philosophy; is infrastructure. Coinbase’s “agent wallets,” which run on the x402 protocol, have already processed more than 50 million transactions since launching in February. These are wallets managed entirely by software agents that pay for their computing power, data, and API access using gasless trading on Layer 2 networks like Base.

As Armstrong pointed out, an AI agent can generate a private key in milliseconds, but it can’t walk into a Chase branch with a driver’s license. By combining AI with non-custodial wallets, the crypto industry is building a Machine-to-Machine economy that banks weren’t originally built to handle. If 2025 was about the “Bitcoin ETF,” 2026 is officially the year of the “Independent Investor.”
