Coinbase and Bybit in talks for strategic investment partnership: Report

Bybit is reportedly planning to enter the relevant US market through this potential partnership.

Popular Chinese crypto news outlet Wu Blockchain reported today that two giants of the industry, Coinbase and Bybit, are in talks about some sort of investment partnership.

Although the available information is very limited and there is no official response from either side, it is reported that the valuation of Bybit may match that of OKX after the latest funding event.

Citing three sources who confirmed the information, the report further suggests that such a partnership would allow Bybit to tap into the relevant US market.

It will follow several notable deals in the cryptocurrency space, such as Coinbase’s acquisition of derivatives giant Deribit. As reported in the summer of 2025, the Wall Street-listed exchange bought Deribit for $2.9 billion as the derivatives market was exploding.

Recently, OKX received a major nod from the International Stock Exchange. The organization behind the New York Stock Exchange has acquired a minority stake in the cryptocurrency exchange, valuing it at an impressive $25 billion after its latest round of investment.

According to Wu Blockchain, Bybit’s valuation should be similar to OKX’s value, which is around $25 billion.
