Growing up and living in the south, I know how to enjoy bacon. I am also aware of the fact that many restaurants rely on high fructose corn syrup and other non-food ingredients in their sauces. This Boston pork belly recipe avoids everything and uses only the sweetest, wholesome ingredients for the best taste.
Boston butt is one of the easiest cuts of pork and it’s also one of the cheapest. I’ve been able to find Boston boards made from grass-fed pork at great prices, and slow-cooking this recipe makes it tender. Boston butt roast in the Crockpot is also an easy recipe on days when you’ve been out all day and want dinner ready when you get home. In the home of children and teenagers in sports there is a lot going on around here!
How to Serve Boston Butt Roast
For our family, one Boston steak takes about 3 servings plus all the leftovers. It is a tasty and delicious source of protein on its own, or mixed into other dishes. We have used the leftovers to make barbecue omelets. It is also very tasty in tacos or for a salad with protein.
I like meat on the side of almost any type of potato dish or vegetable. It’s also good with some bread, rice, or salad. Try it with some sweet potato fries, mashed potatoes, or roasted brussels sprouts. Here’s a tip: batch cook some roasted sweet potatoes to take out of the fridge for a quick meal. Throw some Boston BBQ chicken on top and you’ve got an easy meal!
Use leftovers for tacos, nachos, baked potatoes, lettuce wraps, or breakfast hash.
Tips for Boston’s Best Butt Roast Recipe
Save any leftovers in the remaining liquid for best flavor and tenderness. If you need to freeze it, pour it with liquid. This protects the texture when it melts.
If the water is too much for you after cooking, then there is a simple recipe. Simmer for 10-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it reduces and appears to be shiny and slightly browned. It should coat the spoon, not run like soup.
This recipe is great for cooking. Use leftovers for tacos, nachos, baked potatoes, lettuce wraps, or even breakfast hash.
