Team Yandex advanced to the PGL Wallachia Season 7 upper bracket finals in Bucharest, Romania after beating Team Liquid 2-0 on Friday.
BetBoom Team won another upper bracket semifinal, beating Team Spirit 2-1.
Yandex and BetBoom will face off on Saturday, with the winner advancing to the finals on Sunday.
Lower-division play in the double-elimination playoffs also began on Friday. Tundra Esports came from behind to beat Aurora Gaming 2-1, while HEROIC dominated Vici Gaming 2-1.
In Saturday’s lower bracket quarterfinals, HEROIC will take on Team Liquid, while Tundra Esports will take on Team Spirit.
The million-dollar Dota 2 tournament kicked off last weekend with 16 teams. Eight teams advanced from the 16-team group stage, which ended on Wednesday. All matches will progress to a best-of-five final, with the winning team taking home $300,000.
On Friday, Yandex knocked Liquid down twice in the green, in 35 and 47 minutes.
Kazakhstan’s Alimzhan “watson” Islambekov registered a kill-death-assist ratio of 17-4-22 on Yandex. Sweden’s Michael “miCKe” Vu finished with 9-11-10.
BetBoom opened with a 39-minute win in green, while Spirit tied the score after 32 minutes in red. BetBoom won the decisive third map in 40 minutes on the green.
Russia’s Danil “gpk” Skutin leads BetBoom 20-7-38. Another Russian, Denis “Larl” Sigitov, finished with 20-14-20 for the Spirit.
After Aurora came out on top in 43 minutes on red, Tundra recovered to win in 43 and 33 minutes on both reds.
Bulgaria’s Bozhidar “bzm” Bogdanov produced a 25-15-38 KDA ratio for the Tundra. Indonesia’s Rafli “Mikoto” Fathur Rahman posted a KDA percentage of 16-9-30 for Aurora.
HEROIC took two wins in red in 31 minutes and 46 minutes, following Vici Gaming’s 47-minute victory in green.
Adrian “Wisper” Dobles of Bolivia posted a KDA ratio of 27-7-41 for HEROIC. Guo “Xm” Hongcheng had a 9-11-21 KDA ratio for Chinese player Vici Gaming.
