Saudi Arabia’s Defense Ministry said in multiple statements that several drones were intercepted and destroyed in the east and north of the country while defending attacks.

The ministry also said late Friday that the country’s armed forces intercepted a ballistic missile launched toward al-Kharj governorate.

Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on Saturday that five US Air Force refueling planes were damaged in recent days while grounded at an air base in Saudi Arabia.

According to the WSJ, citing unnamed US officials, the planes were damaged in an Iranian attack.

He did not say when the attack occurred and added that the US Central Command (CENTCOM) declined to comment on the report.

Meanwhile, Qatar’s Defense Ministry reported missile attacks and issued temporary evacuation measures.

One intercepted missile attack was announced around 2am (11:00 GMT), while another was reported later that morning.

On the other hand, Qatar’s Ministry of Interior shared an update warning that the temporary preventive evacuation measures issued only apply to “residents in the specified areas who received notifications through the National Alert System.”

“Alternative safe accommodations have been provided to those affected, while some have chosen to move to safe locations of their own choosing, until the security threat passes,” the ministry said.

Explosion over Doha

Al Jazeera’s Dmitry Medvedenko, reporting from Doha, said there was a large explosion in the skies over the city at around 1:30 am on Saturday (22:30 GMT on Friday).

“It was felt throughout the city,” Medvedenko said, adding: “For the first time in two weeks of this conflict, certain parts of the city received evacuation orders about an hour before the attack occurred.”

“Many people had to spend a few hours in basements and were not allowed to return to their homes. This is unprecedented,” our correspondent also said.

Meanwhile, Kuwait’s National Guard shot down a drone “in one of the areas under its responsibility to protect the country,” the Government Communications Center said.

“This action is part of ongoing efforts to improve security, protect vital sites and counter any potential threats,” the communications center said in a post on X.

The Dubai Media Office said falling debris hit the facade of a building in its central area, after an attack was “successfully” knocked down.

No fire broke out or injuries were reported, and the situation was already contained, the press office said, without specifying whether it was caused by a missile or a drone.

Iran has been launching missile and drone attacks throughout the Gulf region, targeting US military assets and bases, as well as commercial and civilian sites.
