Nazem Kadri scored twice and goalie Dustin Wolf continued his mastery against the team he grew up supporting as the visiting Calgary Flames earned a 4-1 come-from-behind win over the underperforming San Jose Sharks on Thursday.

Connor Zary and Mikael Backlund both had one goal and one assist for the Flames, who have won their second straight game without scoring four goals.

Wolf made 34 saves for Calgary, which has won nine of 10 games against the Sharks.

Wolf, a native of nearby Gilroy, California, has won 10 of his 12 career clashes with San Jose.

The Flames have won 50 straight games while scoring four or more goals.

Tyler Toffoli opened the scoring for the Sharks, who have lost five in a row.

San Jose goalie Yaroslav Askarov stopped 25 shots.

After the Sharks opened the scoring early in the second period, Wolf held on strong as his team returned to action in the first game between the two clubs after the Olympic break.

The Flames tied the game thanks to Kadri’s tally on a top-notch effort from the slot at 15:02 of the second period, set up by a slick pass from Joel Farabee.

Zary put Calgary ahead with a quick conversion goal. He caught the puck in the high slot and fired a shot inside the far post with a partial screen in front of the cage at 5:22 of the third period.

Kadri extended the Calgary lead to 6:34 later. A poor cleanup attempt caused Zary’s skate to point directly at Kadri and into the net, where the veteran forward beat Askarov to make it 3-1.

Backlund’s empty-net goal with 2:30 left in regulation sealed the scoring and sealed the win in the club’s opener of a three-game road trip through California.

It was a wasted opportunity for the Sharks to get into the playoff race. After controlling most of the play in the opening frame, the Sharks finally got their reward when Toffoli opened the scoring 77 seconds into the second period. While cruising through the slot, Toffoli perfectly redirected Mario Ferraro’s point shot.
