In high school and college, I became addicted to all the junk food and sweets. Since then, I’ve ditched the little snack cakes for a real snack option that’s healthier and tastier! These brownie batter bites are the latest thing to come out of my kitchen.
They are a good source of protein and healthy fats for steady energy. Plus, they’re so delicious, no extra refined sugar needed! My kids love these and they go away quickly once the batch is done.
Healthy Brownie Batter
One of the best things about making brownies is not even brownies, but getting to cut the plate. While I’m not afraid of eggs from grass-fed chickens, there are other ingredients lurking in many of my brownie recipes that I’m not a fan of. Not only is this version packed with protein, but it skips the flour completely. They also have free eggs for anyone who needs to avoid eggs.
Nut butter gives it a creamy texture and adds healthy fats. Then, of course, there is antioxidant rich cocoa powder for a rich, chocolatey taste. My kids also love the little chocolate bars for the extra chocolate. Maple syrup or unsweetened honey adds a touch of sweetness without overpowering it. And even better, these natural sweeteners are full of minerals and micronutrients for cellular health and energy that will not give you a crash.
Loaded with protein
I prioritize protein. After years of dieting, I feel happier when I start feeding my body. Part of that includes making sure I hit my protein goals. Although I like to eat at least 40 grams of protein for breakfast, I need my snacks (and even desserts!) to support my goals.
Here are some protein-rich desserts if you’re looking for more options!
These brownie batter recipes taste like you eat a spoonful of brownie batter, but they’re actually good for you. We will eat them as a dessert or a snack. And if you’re packing them for lunch, toss them before putting them in the lunch bag so they keep their shape.

If your house is like mine, turning them a little helps to stretch out the group. I usually have 16 snaps so everyone gets one and the older kids can grab seconds.
Storage and Shelf Life
These brownie batter recipes will keep in the fridge for up to 5 days or in the freezer for up to 2 months. Every time I make a batch they usually go away in a day! You can also double or triple to keep the batch cool for next time.
