Massachusetts native Collin Graf scored the final game-winning goal when he came up short, propelling the visiting San Jose Sharks to a 4-2 victory over the Boston Bruins on Thursday night.

Michael Misa, Tyler Toffoli and William Eklund each had a goal and an assist for San Jose, which improved to 4-1-2 in its last seven games and swept the season series. The loss also snapped the Bruins’ 13-game home winning streak.

The Sharks maintained a 2-0 lead before wrapping up the win with two goals in the third period, assisted by Alex Nedeljkovic (39 saves).

Nedeljkovic had double-digit stops in each period, including a game-high 14 in the first and third periods.

David Pastrnak had a goal and an assist, Frazier Minten also scored and Jeremy Swayman stopped 24 shots for the Bruins, who suffered their first regulation loss in four games (2-0-1).

Boston held a 41-28 edge in shots.

Boston responded when Pavel Zacha’s backhand was fed from the wing, forcing Casey Mittelstadt to take a shot, which Nedeljkovic made the save at 3:35.

Despite the home team’s high pressure, Misa gave San Jose a 1-0 lead at 5:57. The rookie centreman teamed up with Eklund to exchange a beautiful ball before finishing a shot into the open left side of the net.

San Jose upped the tempo on offense in the middle frame, but Swayman stood tall at 5 to deny former Boston College star Macklin Celebrini’s breakaway down the slot.

As Nedeljkovic continued to shut out the Bruins, Celebrini helped the Sharks double their lead on the power play at 14:15. He whiffed a one-time opportunity, then went into the right circle and fired a shot that bounced off Toffoli and into the goal.

The Bruins failed to capitalize on their man advantage early in the third period, with just 12 seconds remaining when Alexander Wennberg sent Graf down on a shorthanded breakaway at 3:13. A wrister on the glove side made it a 3-0 game.

Eklund scored San Jose’s fourth goal at 8:20, cutting in on a one-on-one with Boston defenseman Andrew Peeke and hitting a rebound in the air near the crease.

Just 10 seconds later, Minten broke Nedeljkovic’s shutout bid when he blasted his shot through traffic in the slot and made it five-hole.

With Swayman pulled, Pastrnak brought Boston up 4-2 with a drive down the left sideline with 51.7 seconds left.
