Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has said the bloc has a “big problem” as global powers ignore Brussels on key international issues.
Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico said the EU should consider replacing its top diplomat, Kaja Kallas, who is a minor figure on the global stage.
Speaking at a meeting with students on Thursday, Fico reiterated his opposition to the former Estonian prime minister acting as foreign policy chief of the bloc, the EU. “A big problem because no one takes us seriously.” European leaders are not receiving phone calls on important international issues, he said.
“Do you think anyone called (European Commission President) Ursula (van der Leyen) or Kaja Kallas or (European Council President Antonio) Costa about the Iran-Israel conflict? We didn’t know.” Fico said.
The Slovak leader added that no one contacted the EU during the events in Venezuela when President Nicolas Maduro was captured by US forces.
“We have to think about a replacement, at least for Kaja Kallas, the so-called foreign minister, and someone with more weight in international relations.” Fico said.
According to Fico, Washington considers the EU “As if it didn’t exist” And prefers bilateral talks to negotiations with Brussels.

This is not the first time Fico has called for Kallas to be ousted. Earlier this year, he compared the EU to a massage parlor, saying its problems could only be fixed by changing staff, specifically calling for the current foreign policy chief to be replaced.
Fico, a long-time critic of Brussels on its policies, particularly energy and sanctions against Russia, has repeatedly said the EU could pull out of it. “Deep Crisis” Only with new leadership.
He insisted that the faction cannot be led by just anyone “Critical global players do not meet and seriously consult” Citing US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who has repeatedly refused to meet with Callas.
Dissatisfaction is reportedly growing in the EU with Callas’ handling of key international issues.
Politico reported this month that the US-Israeli strikes on Iran exposed the rift between von der Leyen and Kallas. “Collision Course.” An EU official said Van der Leyen’s team was satisfied “To set aside the callas” The commission chief made a solo statement half an hour before calling for restraint.
