Gabriel Pec scored an early goal and two late goals to lead the Los Angeles Galaxy to a 3-0 win over Mt. Pleasant FA in the first leg of their CONCACAF Champions Cup round of 16 tie on Wednesday in Carson, California.

The two-game point total set concludes on March 19 in Kingston, Jamaica. The winner of the series will face either San Diego FC or Toluca FC in the quarterfinals.

Peck scored his hat trick four days after receiving a red card for two yellow cards in the Galaxy’s 4-1 loss to the Colorado Rapids in an MLS regular season match.

In the sixth minute on Wednesday, Los Angeles’ Mauricio Cuevas beat a Mount Pleasant defender to the endline, beat the ball, and Petch fired a left-footed shot from 12 yards out.

A Miki Yamane layoff led to Pec scoring another 12-yard left-footed goal in the 89th minute.

Peck completed a hat trick after receiving a pass from Joao Klaus in the 5th minute of added time in the second half.

The Galaxy finished the game with a 12-1 advantage in shots on target.

Inter Miami 0, Nashville SC 0

Nashville SC was statistically dominant, but was held to a scoreless draw against away Inter Miami.

The series concludes March 18 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Teams that advance will face either the Philadelphia Union or Mexico’s Club America in the quarterfinals.

The host Boys in Gold held a 15-8 edge in total shots, including a 5-1 advantage in shots on target. Miami goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair made five saves.

Nashville’s Brian Schweik blocked only one shot from Lionel Messi’s effort in the 57th minute. Messi, who led Argentina to the 2022 World Cup title and Inter Miami to the 2025 MLS Cup title, has scored 899 goals for club and country among his many achievements.
