Almost two months after TikTok’s operations in the United States officially landed in the hands of a group of investors, Oracle disclosed its stake in the roughly $2 billion joint venture.

In its quarterly financial filing on Wednesday, Oracle said it recorded “investments in non-traded debt and equity securities and related instruments” of $2.2 billion for the period ending Feb. 28.

The “substantial majority” of his non-tradable investments were in TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC, according to the document.

A national security law signed by former President Joe Biden in 2024 required China’s ByteDance to sell TikTok’s U.S. operations or face a nationwide ban.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order approving the divestment of ByteDance in September. Vice Chairman JD Vance said the business was valued at $14 billion.

In January, Adam Presser was named CEO of the new TikTok USDS joint venture. Oracle, Silver Lake, Abu Dhabi’s MGX and a group of other investors made up majority control of the new entity.

Oracle owns 15% and has a seat on the board of directors, which the company reiterated on its earnings call Tuesday night. Silver Lake and MGX also each control 15%. ByteDance owns just under 20% of the US company.

Following the change of ownership, Oracle stored all the data of TikTok’s American users. A White House memo said Oracle would also act as the company’s security provider to “independently monitor and ensure the security of all US operations.”

The transition has not been entirely smooth.

In January, TikTok’s U.S. entity said a wave of technical glitches and content outages was due to a power outage at one of its data centers, rejecting claims that the platform was censoring political speech.

Earlier this month, the joint venture posted on X that “an issue with an Oracle data center is impacting some parts of the TikTok user experience in the US.”

“Creators may experience temporary delays in publishing content while Oracle works to resolve the issue,” TikTok said.

The company announced three days later that service had been fully restored.
