Pareja, hired on December 4, 2019, compiled a record of 103-72-66 in all competitions and helped the club win the 2022 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup.
Orlando limped out of the blocks this season, scoring an MLS-high 11 goals and losing all three of their games. The team hosts CF Montreal (1-2-0, 3 points) on Saturday.
“I would like to thank Oscar for the dedication, leadership and professionalism he has brought to our club,” said Ricardo Moreira, general manager and sporting director. “He delivered one of the most important moments in Orlando City history with the 2022 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup and helped build a competitive foundation to move us forward, highlighted by a spirited club record of six consecutive playoff appearances, currently the longest consecutive playoff appearances in MLS.
“At the same time, we believe this is the right moment to take the club in a new direction as we look to the next phase of our growth and ambition. We thank Oscar for all he has contributed and wish him every success in the next chapter of his career.”
“Oscar will always be remembered for the impact he had on our club and our community,” said Mark Wilf, Orlando City SC owner and chairman. “He has helped develop Orlando City both on and off the field, guided us through milestones that have reshaped our trajectory, and represented our crest with integrity. We thank him for everything he has given to the organization.”
Pareja, 57, previously coached Colorado Rapids (2012-14), FC Dallas (2014-18) and Liga MX team Club Tiajuana (2018-19).
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the players, staff and supporters of the club who have placed their trust in me over the years,” Pareja said. “We have shared moments together that will stay with us forever. It is the right time for both me and the club to move in a new direction, but I am proud of what we have done and am deeply grateful to those who have made it possible. Orlando will always have a special place in my heart and I wish the team nothing but success in the future.”
Assistant coach Martin Perelman will serve as interim head coach. He has served as Orlando City’s first team assistant coach since 2024.
