Sports Illustrated reports that the star defensive end returned to the team facility at 8 a.m. Wednesday to rehab following left knee surgery and considers himself a member of the Raiders’ staff going forward.
The Raiders agreed to a trade with the Ravens on Friday, sending Crosby to Baltimore in exchange for multiple first-round picks. But the deal was pending the results of Crosby’s physical and wasn’t made official until Wednesday, the first day of the league. On Tuesday night, the Ravens informed the Raiders that the deal was terminated due to questions surrounding Crosby’s health and what was deemed a “physical impairment,” according to multiple reports.
On Wednesday morning, the Ravens reportedly agreed to a four-year contract with free agent defenseman Trey Hendrickson. The 31-year-old is also back from surgery. He played in seven games last season and underwent core muscle surgery. The terms of the contract, worth about $112 million, are consistent with Crosby’s total compensation remaining on his deal, according to multiple reports.
NFL Network reported that the Chicago Bears were willing to give up two first-round picks to acquire Crosby, but the bid was higher. The Ravens likely came out ahead, as Baltimore’s 2026 first-round pick is 11 slots better than Chicago’s 25th overall pick.
The Raiders and the 28-year-old Crosby have been at odds since fired coach Pete Carroll decided to sit him out late in the 2025 season.
In a change of direction, the Ravens kept the 14th overall pick and secured the 2027 first-rounder promised in the handshake deal.
The Raiders signed two edge rushers in Malcolm Koonce and Kwity Paye, but remain responsible for Crosby’s contract and his $35.7 million cap hit in 2026, according to Spotrac. Las Vegas also signed Ravens free agent center Tyler Linderbaum.
