Marsh has named Nick Studer as Chairman and CEO of Marsh Risk, succeeding Martin South.
South will move into an enterprise-wide role as Marsh’s chief customer officer (CCO), working with leaders across the company’s businesses.
The leadership changes take effect on April 1.
Studer and South will remain on the company’s executive committee.
Both will report to Marsh President and CEO John Doyle.
Commenting on the appointments, Doyle said: “Our vision is to make Marsh the most effective professional services firm in the world. These appointments will help us accelerate growth, increase our agility, unlock additional value for our clients and realize our vision.”
Studer joined Marsh’s Oliver Wyman in 1997. He held senior consulting positions in consumer, industrial and financial services before becoming president and CEO in 2021.
He has served in cross-industry organisations, including founding chairman of TheCityUK and founding advisory board member of the FICC Markets Standards Board.
South rejoined Marsh in 2007 and led the business in multiple regions including Asia-Pacific, UK and Ireland, Europe, US and Canada.
He became chairman and CEO of Marsh Risk in 2022. He first joined the company in 1985 with Boeing Marsh.
South also had a leadership role in Zurich Financial Services. He served on the group’s management board, overseeing operations outside North America and Europe, and was CEO of Zurich’s London operations.
Marsh said it expects to announce a new CEO of Oliver Wyman and Marsh Management Consulting by April 1.
“I am proud to lead Marsh Risk and excited to continue our mission to grow as a paradigm-shifting risk advisor, risk intermediary and passionate advocate for our clients,” Studer commented.
