Mandatory Credit: David Banks-Imagn Image Wide receiver Romeo Dubs agreed to a four-year contract worth up to $80 million with the New England Patriots on Tuesday, according to multiple reports.
Doubs, 25, has 202 catches in four seasons with the Packers and has had huge performances in two playoff appearances.
He nearly helped the Packers knock off the Bears with eight receptions for 124 yards in a wild-card loss at Chicago in January. Doubs, a 2022 fourth-round pick, set career records in a wild-card win at Dallas in 2023, including a touchdown and 151 receiving yards.
The Patriots are set to release Stefon Diggs after one season in New England. Diggs has a team-leading 85 receptions in 2025. No other wide receiver on the roster at the time had more catches than Mack Hollins’ 46 catches.
Doubs had 55 catches for a career-high 724 yards with six touchdowns in 2025. Three of his touchdowns came in tied games against Dallas.
But the Packers are walking a tightrope over the salary cap and have already committed fellow 2022 draft classmate Christian Watson to a one-year extension. Watson was a 2022 second-round pick (34th overall).
Green Bay also used a 2025 first-round draft pick on wide receiver Matthew Golden, and Jaden Reed is entering the final year of his rookie contract. Reed was targeted 75 times in 2024 when both were healthy, to the Dubs’ 72. Reed led the Packers in receptions in 2024 with 55, despite missing most of last season with collarbone and foot injuries.
The Patriots drafted a wide receiver with a second-round pick in 2022, but Tyquan Thornton (50th overall) was released midway through the 2024 season. He played with the Chiefs last season and re-signed with Kansas City on Monday.
