career arc
Gilman has become one of the most underrated safeties in the league. The Los Angeles Chargers selected him in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, but he became a permanent starter for the 2023 NFL season. He made significant adjustments to his game, going from a 58.5 PFF grade in 2022 to an 86.1 PFF grade in 2023.

During the 2023 season, he recorded 73 combined tackles, two tackles for loss, two interceptions, 10 pass deflections, and two fumble recoveries. The 2024 season was also a good season for him. He totaled 50 tackles, an interception, four pass deflections and a forced fumble.

However, the Chargers wanted to improve their pass rush, so they traded Gilman to the Baltimore Ravens for Odafe Oweh and a 2026 fifth-round pick in exchange for Odafe Oweh and a 2027 seventh-round pick.
