Mandatory Credit: Gabriel Mayberry-Imagn Image Blake Hinson hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 29.2 seconds left, giving the Utah Jazz a 119-116 victory over Golden State on Monday in Salt Lake City.
Hinson hit four 3-pointers and finished with 12 points, helping Utah secure its second win in three games. Kyle Filipowski had 19 points, 15 rebounds, five assists and two steals for the Jazz. Brice Sensabaugh scored a team-high 21 points.
De’Anthony Melton led Golden State with 22 points and 7 rebounds. Draymond Green finished the game with a game-high 10 assists.
Gui Santos added 15 points, eight rebounds and five assists for the Warriors, who lost for the fourth time in five games. Brandin Podziemski had 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
Late in the third quarter, Utah went on a 12-1 run thanks to Kevin Love’s 3-pointer to take an 89-78 lead. Love also hit three free throws during the run, and as a team, the Jazz went 13-for-13 from the free throw line in the period.
Golden State erased a double-digit deficit and tied the game twice in the final three minutes. Both times, Hinson hit a 3-pointer to put the Jazz back in front.
After Hinson’s final 3-pointer, Elijah Harkless made one of two foul shots for Utah before Melton hit a 3-pointer with 2.3 seconds left to tie the Warriors at one. Harkless, who finished with a career-high 16 points and 6 assists, hit two free throws with 1.7 seconds left.
Santos’ last-second 3-point attempt to equalize was no good.
Harkless scored or assisted on eight baskets in eight minutes, helping Utah build a 45-38 lead midway through the second quarter. He hit a floater at the first quarter buzzer and later knocked down a transition trey to make it 11-2 and give the Jazz a seven-point lead.
Golden State made up for the deficit with Podziemski’s pull-up 3-pointer just before halftime to take a 55-53 lead. Sensabaugh and Filipowski countered with back-to-back 3-pointers to put Utah up 59-55 going into the locker room.
