NFL free agency is officially underway and the Indianapolis Colts have wasted no time in addressing their roster needs. The league’s “legal tampering” window opens Monday, allowing teams to negotiate with unrestricted free agents ahead of the new league year that begins March 11.
For Indianapolis, the focus quickly focused on two names: quarterback Daniel Jones, who received a transition tag earlier in the week, and wide receiver Alec Pierce, who is scheduled to test the open market.

The Colts didn’t let Pierce get that far. Indianapolis moved quickly to get one of its most explosive playmakers off the market, completing a deal that would massively reset the receiver market.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Pierce agreed to a four-year, $114 million contract to remain in Indianapolis. The deal was reportedly completed overnight and includes $84 million in guarantees, $60 million fully guaranteed at signing, and a maximum package of $116 million.
The contract makes Pierce the highest-paid free agent receiver in NFL history.
Pierce has spent his entire NFL career with the Colts after being drafted out of Cincinnati with the 53rd overall pick in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
In four seasons in Indianapolis, the 25-year-old recorded 157 receptions for 2,934 yards and 17 touchdowns while steadily building his role in the offense.

His 2025 campaign was a landmark year. Pierce played in 15 games, amassing 1,003 yards on 47 catches and six touchdowns, averaging 21.3 yards per reception.
