(Photo: AP) A seventh U.S. service member has died from injuries sustained during attacks related to the ongoing conflict with Iran, the U.S. military said Sunday.
According to the Associated Press (AP), the service member died Saturday night after being seriously wounded in an earlier attack on US troops in Saudi Arabia on March 1.
In a post on the social media platform
“Last night, a U.S. service member died from injuries received during the Iranian regime’s initial attacks throughout the Middle East,” CENTCOM said. “The service member was seriously injured at the scene of an attack on U.S. troops in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on March 1.”

The command added that the death brings to seven the number of American soldiers killed in the conflict.
“This is the seventh service member killed in action during Operation Epic Fury,” the statement said.
Authorities said the soldier’s identity has not yet been released. The military said the name would be made public only after relatives have been informed.

The death comes days after six other US soldiers were killed in a drone attack on a command center in Kuwait. The attack took place shortly after the United States and Israel launched joint military strikes against Iran on February 28.
The president of the United States, Donald Trump, attended the dignified transfer of the six soldiers at Dover Air Force Base on Saturday.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said it was possible there would be more casualties as the conflict continues.
“I’m sure. I hate to do it… but it’s part of war,” he said when asked if he expected to attend more transfers of fallen soldiers.
Fighting between Iran, Israel and US forces has caused heavy casualties across the region: more than a thousand people have died in Iran and hundreds more in Lebanon since the conflict began.
