A government building in Kuwait burst into flames in the early hours of Sunday after being hit by an Iranian drone as violence in West Asia widened amid continued joint US-Israeli attacks on Tehran.
Images on Sunday showed flames ravaging the upper floors of the Kuwaiti government’s Public Institution of Social Security (PIFSS) building. The United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain reported Iranian drone attacks against their countries, respectively, on Saturday and Sunday.
The PIFSS had previously stated that its main facilities had been attacked “resulting in material damage to the building.” Kuwait’s military claimed it was facing a drone attack on the country and that shrapnel had caused damage to civilian buildings.
The Kuwaiti military added that it was continuing to attack “hostile air targets” and the country’s citizens had been urged to “adhere to security instructions.”
The attack on Kuwait came hours after Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian apologized for attacks on neighboring Gulf countries and urged them not to join US and Israeli attacks on Tehran.
President Pezeshkian in his statement dismissed US President Donald Trump’s demand that Tehran surrender unconditionally as “a dream.”

Kuwait’s Interior Ministry, in a post on X, said Sunday that two of its officers died “while carrying out their duties.”
However, the ministry did not elaborate on the circumstances surrounding the deaths of two officers, but said the army has been intercepting drones and missiles launched from Tehran.
Meanwhile, President Trump has said the war against Iran will only end with Tehran’s military and rulers wiped out, as the Islamic nation reportedly elected its new supreme leader following the assassination of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The Israeli military announced on X day that it will pursue all successors in Iran’s leadership.
“At some point, I don’t think there will be anyone left who will say, ‘We surrender,’” Trump said.
