Miro Heiskanen scored 22 seconds into overtime after Mavrik Bourque had a goal and an assist in the third period. The surging Dallas Stars outlasted the visiting Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday and earned a 4-3 win.

Seconds into the extra session, Heiskanen took a pass from Matt Duchene and chipped the puck past Chicago netminder Arvid Soderblom to help Dallas rebound after its club-record 10-game winning streak ended with a 5-4 loss to Colorado on Friday.

Chicago took a 2-0 lead 9 minutes into the game, but eventually fell behind 3-2 just 1 minute after the game ended. But with 1:20 left and Soderblom (28 saves) picked off an extra skater, Blackhawks star Connor Bedard freed his wrist through traffic to glance past Dallas defenseman Tyler Myers and former netminder Casey DeSmith (14 saves) to tie the contest.

Dallas trailed 2-1 after the second period, but scored an equalizer 42 seconds into the third quarter. Bourque’s shot hit the post, but the puck crossed the goal line after being essentially pushed aside by the Hawks as Soderblom and teammate Frank Nazar collided in the crease.

Then, with 10:20 remaining in regulation, Bourque helped give the Stars their first lead. Under pressure from Dallas on the power play, Bourque earned an assist when Justin Hryckowian got enough of the puck to beat Soderblom.

Chicago, stuck in a 2-7-4 frame, opened the scoring at 6:59. Tyler Bertuzzi, who was in good position in front of the Dallas net, successfully redirected Artyom Levshunov’s shot from the right circle.

The Blackhawks were up 2-0 less than two minutes later. After Oliver Moore made a turnover behind the net, Teuvo Teravainen sent the puck into the slot for Sam Rinzel to get past DeSmith.

Dallas answered with 3:20 left in the opening frame. Nathan Bastian caught a glimpse as Lian Bichsel drove through traffic at the point.

Chicago had a total of 10 shots on goal through the first two periods. However, thanks to Soderblom, who showed exceptional strength in the second inning, they maintained a one-goal advantage.
